IAQ Provides Solution to Curtail Spread of Tuberculosis in Buildings
What is Tuberculosis?
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by a germ called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but they can also damage other parts of the body. TB spreads through the air when a person with TB of the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes or talks. If you have been exposed, you should go to your doctor for tests. People with weak immune system are more susceptible to TB.
Symptoms of TB
Symptoms of TB include a bad cough that lasts 3 weeks or longer, weight loss, coughing up blood or mucus, weakness or fatigue, fever and chills, and night sweats. If not treated properly, TB can be deadly.
How does TB spread?
TB is usually spread through the air from one person to another or contact with droplets (deposited on building interior surfaces, equipment, and materials) from the nose and throat of infected people especially when they cough and sneeze.
IAQ Solutions to Curtail Spread of TB
The first and best defense is a good offense. The first step is to isolate affected individuals and the second step is to bio-decontaminate the building. IAQ Singapore provides a vapour decontamination system. This system helps to kill bacteria in all nooks and crannies (that are not humanly possible to reach) of the building. In addition, bio-decontamination (using antimicrobial treatments) of indoor surfaces and equipment will be implemented to reduce the level of existing contamination on all surfaces and to minimize the transmission of infection by contact with surfaces contaminated with spilled droplets of contaminants. Our antimicrobial treatment offers long-lasting protection from microorganisms. The aim of our bio-decontamination is to take control of the site’s bio-sphere and re-establish a controlled environment safe for human occupation and reduce potential cross-contamination.
